Election Day Voting Guide 2026: District 157 Polling Locations, Hours & Voter Rights

This election has concluded. Voting in the November 3, 2026 general election closed at 7:00 PM. County boards are processing provisional and absentee ballots ahead of official certification. This guide stays online as a reference. Read our message of thanks to District 157.

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 is General Election Day across Georgia. Voters across House District 157 - encompassing Appling, Evans, Jeff Davis, and Tattnall Counties - will choose their voice in the Georgia General Assembly.

Advance in-person early voting ended on Friday, October 30. There is no voting on Monday, November 2. Tuesday is your final opportunity to make your voice heard on local property tax reform, rural hospital survival, and accountable representation.

1. Key Polling Hours & The “Stay in Line” Rule

Polls were open across all four counties from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3.

Under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 21-2-403), every voter who is physically in line at their assigned polling place by 7:00 PM is legally entitled to vote. If you encounter a line after work, stay in line. The precinct cannot turn away any elector who arrived before the 7:00 PM cutoff.

2. Where to Vote on Election Day

On Election Day, you cannot simply go to the county courthouse annex or early voting site unless that facility happens to be your assigned neighborhood precinct. You must vote at the specific precinct tied to your residential address.

To confirm your exact voting location in under two minutes:

  1. Visit the official Georgia My Voter Page (mvp.sos.ga.gov).
  2. Enter your first initial, last name, county, and date of birth.
  3. Review your assigned precinct name, physical street address, and personalized sample ballot.

If you have moved recently within the district or have questions about precinct changes, contact your county board of elections immediately.

3. County Election Office Directory

If you need to verify your precinct or hand-deliver an absentee ballot, your local county registrar contacts are listed below:

Appling County

  • Elections Office: Appling County Board of Elections & Registration
  • Physical Address: 83 South Oak Street, Baxley, GA 31513
  • Phone: (912) 367-8113

Evans County

  • Elections Office: Evans County Board of Elections & Registration
  • Physical Address: 201 Freeman Street, Suite 10, Claxton, GA 30417
  • Phone: (912) 739-0708

Jeff Davis County

  • Elections Office: Jeff Davis County Board of Elections & Registrars
  • Physical Address: 15 Public Safety Drive, Hazlehurst, GA 31539
  • Phone: (912) 375-6635

Tattnall County

  • Elections Office: Tattnall County Board of Elections & Registration
  • Physical Address: 114 West Brazell Street, Reidsville, GA 30453
  • Phone: (912) 557-6417

4. What Photo ID to Bring to the Polls

Georgia law requires registered voters to present a valid photo identification before receiving a ballot.

Any of the following six forms of identification are legally accepted:

  • A Georgia driver’s license (even if expired)
  • Any valid state or federal government-issued photo ID (including a free Georgia Voter ID card)
  • A valid United States passport
  • A valid employee photo ID issued by any branch, department, or agency of the U.S. government, Georgia, or any county or city in Georgia
  • A valid United States military photo ID
  • A valid tribal photo ID containing a photograph

If you do not have an acceptable photo ID when you arrive at your precinct, you have the right to request and cast a provisional ballot. You then have until Friday, November 6 to present proper photo identification to your county registrar for your vote to be counted.

5. What to Do with Mail-In Absentee Ballots

If you requested an absentee ballot by mail, it must be physically delivered into the hands of your county election office by 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3. Under state law, postmarks do not count; the ballot must be in the office before the deadline.

If you still have an unreturned mail ballot but prefer to vote in person on Tuesday, take your absentee ballot with you to your assigned polling place. Hand it to the poll manager to be canceled, and you will be issued a regular in-person ballot to vote on the machine.

6. What Is at Stake in District 157

This election comes down to the everyday realities of families in Southeast Georgia. For too long, state policy decisions made in Atlanta have placed heavy burdens on rural taxpayers while delivering few returns.

Micah King is running to bring responsive, independent leadership to the State Capitol:

  • Protecting Rural Healthcare: Defending Evans Memorial Hospital and ensuring emergency medical transport reaches dirt-road addresses without thirty-minute delays.
  • Lowering Local Living Costs: Fighting unfair utility rate hikes driven by data center power demands and reforming crushing property reassessments.
  • Standing with Family Agriculture: Safeguarding the GATE program and protecting multi-generational farmland and timberland from outside corporate exploitation.
  • Direct Constituent Service: Keeping regular town halls and answering calls directly from neighbors across Appling, Evans, Jeff Davis, and Tattnall Counties.

Check your registration, map your polling precinct at mvp.sos.ga.gov, and make your plan to vote on Tuesday, November 3.
