Glennville Celebrates 50th Annual Sweet Onion Festival & Parade

Last Saturday, May 9th, I had the honor of joining thousands of our Tattnall County neighbors in downtown Glennville for the historic 50th Annual Glennville Sweet Onion Festival and Parade.

For five decades, this festival has celebrated a crop, and the hard work behind it. Tattnall County produces some of the most celebrated sweet onions in the world, and that success is built on the shoulders of multi-generational farming families, local laborers, and agricultural stewards who work our soil every day.

Being on the parade route, shaking hands, and hearing your stories reminded me of exactly why I launched this campaign.

Stewardship Over Complacency

Too often, our rural communities are ignored by Atlanta. We see politicians who show up only during election years to ask for votes, but are completely absent when local farm advocates are struggling with skyrocketing input costs, property tax reassessments, and corporate market pressures.

My pledge to you is proactive, high-touch representation. Whether it is at the Gold Dome or on a farm in Glennville, Reidsville, or Claxton, I will always show up. I am running to be your voice so that our farming traditions are protected, our agricultural infrastructure is modernized, and our young families can afford to build their futures right here in House District 157.

Key Commitments for Our Agricultural Heritage:

1. Protecting Small-Scale Family Farms: Lowering regulatory barriers for local growers and ensuring state-funded agricultural grants reach family farms, not just massive agribusiness conglomerates.
2. Rural Infrastructure Investment: Expanding high-speed fiber broadband across Tattnall County so our farmers can leverage modern, precision agricultural technology and our children can study without connection limits.
3. Vocational and Ag-Tech Support: Streamlining funding for local FFA (Future Farmers of America) programs and technical college agricultural certificates to keep our youth invested in the land.

Thank you to the Glennville Chamber of Commerce, the parade coordinators, Tattnall County law enforcement, and every volunteer who made the 50th festival a massive success. The sweet onion is our pride, but the people are our strength!
