Position Overview

The Industrial Millwright at Interfor’s Baxley operation is tasked with keeping the heavy machinery of the sawmill running at peak capacity during the demanding night shift. This mechanical expert troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains complex pneumatic and hydraulic systems, directly impacting the mill’s overall lumber yield and production safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Dismantle, inspect, and rebuild heavy industrial sawmill equipment, including saws, planers, and conveyors.
• Fabricate necessary replacement parts using standard welding, cutting, and machining tools.
• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints and schematic drawings to execute complex repairs.
• Adhere strictly to the facility’s lock-out/tag-out safety protocols during all maintenance interventions.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of 2-3 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in the timber or paper industry.
• Strong proficiency in repairing hydraulic and pneumatic power systems.
• Willingness and ability to work continuous night shifts in a dusty, noisy, and high-paced environment.
